Phase 3: ???? Phase 4: Profit!!!

So mom and I have been doing some wedding hunting, and the more that things pop up that are "usual" for weddings, the more I balk. Flowers? Umm... expensive, and I think I could do them myself. Cake? Do we really need to have something that fancy? Place? Can't we just go to the courthouse?

Mom has really been getting frustrated with me, and I honestly don't blame her. We've at least settled on food and location. The arbor plaza at Central Park, Santa Clara is an intimate place for a reception, especially if we hold the ceremony at Mom and Dad's backyard and then just have everyone walk over to the park. We've also settled on Armadillo Willy's for food. I may have to sell David on it, as we're both vegetarian, but one of the side dishes is barbeque beans, which can easily become our veggie entree. Also, Dad can eat the food there, which is always a huge plus.

So. I've got the food, location, dress and guy nailed down. Now for the guest list. Also, I think I'll look up nearby flower growers.

The first meeting...

Emily was lying down under a couch in the library one day, when suddenly a voice from the side (and above, of course) said: "I remember making couch forts! Those are fun!"

Emily was rather embarrassed by this, and wary of the apparition that accompanied this declaration. It was a tall, shaggy looking man, who was grinning rather crookedly beneath a crooked nose.

She stood up self-consciously and moved quickly to the farthest couch in the alcove from this hairy creature.

David sat at the first couch, feeling rather guilty about scaring the suddenly red faced girl, but decided that apologizing would only be more awkward, so he began to read.

Emily was still rather wary, so she kept stealing glances to make sure he wasn't in any way threatening. She noticed the book he was reading as well as the rather large stack of books next to him.

David was oblivious to the world and was rather surprised when the skittish girl said: "That looks like something Pratchett would write."

"You read Terry Pratchett?" David asked, surprised. "I need to talk with you."

And they were off, talking about books and trading Scandinavian Lutheran jokes, and generally making more noise than they should have. After they were kicked off the silent floor, they continued talking at group areas in the library until they had talked for hours, and decided to trade emails and meet up in two days.

They met the next day serendipitously and talked for hours more.
